How long is a session?
Sessions are either 45 or 60 minutes, determined by how much time you need and which modality you are using.
How long will therapy take?
The length of therapy depends on what you want to work on and the pace that best suits your needs. Therapy typically takes a minimum of two years and can last many more years, as long as you are still gaining and progressing from our work.
Do you take insurance?
I am an acceptable provider if your insurance plan has out of network benefits. This means you are eligible for reimbursement at the rate your plan allows. I will provide a “Superbill” which you submit to your insurance company.
Do I need to be an artist to do art therapy?
The goal of art therapy is not to make a piece of art (which may or may not happen) but to be in a creative process. Creativity is our “super power.” It is something we hold in spite of ourselves. Whether we make art in or out of session, creativity plays a large role in discovery and healing.
What do I bring to a session?
Unless I tell you otherwise, all you need to bring is yourself. If you’d like to come early please know I have a waiting room. You can use that time to gather your thoughts, use the facilities, read a magazine, or make a drawing on my easel.
What is the difference between psychotherapy and taking medication?
Medication is prescribed by a psychiatrist, which I am not. However, I do work with psychiatrists and medical doctors when needed. On the other hand, psychotherapy reaches deeper into your thinking and acting. Here is where we find tools and strategies that help you reach your personal and relational goals.
Do you offer Teletherapy?
Yes, if you reside in NY, NJ, FL, or CA we can meet using a private and confidential software. Teletherapy is often used when on occasion you are unable to come to session in person. Please contact me directly for further information.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please note that my cancellation policy explains in depth how best to cancel a session. I require 2 business days notice before day of appointment. Otherwise you will be charged the session fee.
