TELETHERAPY
What is Teletherapy?
Teletherapy is a form of therapy similar to traditional, in-person therapy but conducted virtually via telephone or videoconferencing.
I provide teletherapy through an encrypted Zoom telehealth platform to ensure confidentiality. I started offering teletherapy during the pandemic and have continued to work virtually with clients. In many cases, it’s as effective— sometimes more convenient—than in-person sessions.
Many clients find teletherapy to be a viable option, especially when they are unable to attend sessions in person.
How Does Teletherapy Work?
- Platform: We use a secure, confidential, high-resolution video conferencing tool.
- Session experience: During sessions, we can see, hear, and interact with each other in real-time, just as we would face-to-face.
- Therapeutic approach: The therapy process is the same as it would be in a face-to-face setting, but it’s conducted using a computer.
Is Teletherapy Legit?
- Insurance coverage: Most insurance providers cover teletherapy, but it’s recommended to double-check with your insurer to ensure your sessions are covered.
- Temporary use: If you are a regular client who needs to use teletherapy temporarily (e.g., while traveling or during a crisis), it’s available as an option.
Does location matter for Teletherapy?
I am licensed to offer teletherapy to clients in New York, New Jersey, California, and Florida. If you live in one of these states, I can provide therapy services. If you live outside these states and need therapy, I may be able to refer you to a qualified colleague in your area.
